Relatively new to the United States, the Bielefelder is a large, beautiful dual purpose breed.  Along with their friendly personality, they are very good layers of large to extra large brown eggs.  Males are large and make a good roaster or soup bird.  Their autosexing characteristic makes it easy to separate the extra males at hatch to begin them on a higher protein feed for quicker weight gain.  A good addition to a backyard flock!
